The 5 – day warning strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kaduna beginning from Sunday midnight appears to have kicked off as power outage hit Kaduna.
The NLC had directed all members and affiliate unions to join the strike against mass disengagement of workers and other alleged anti- labour policies of the state government.
However, the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has threatened to arrest labour leaders who dared to carry out the Industrial action in the state.
El-Rufai had in April announced plans to retrench Civil Servants who he described as infinitesimal in the workforce.
The governor’s announcement came a few days after he handed over sack letters to 4000 local government council workers .
Expectedly, the NLC President,Ayuba Wabba and other leaders of labour unions have arrived in the state to effect enforcement of the action.
