A Magistrate Court in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on Tuesday, ordered the remand of alleged murderer of three policemen Merryl Christopher, to a correctional center pending legal advice
Christopher,a teacher who lives in Katsina-Ala in Benue was charged with criminal conspiracy,armed robbery,act of terrorism and culpable homicide.
The prosecution counsel,Sgt Ato Godwin told the court that Christopher was arrested by a team of Operation Zende led by Sgt,Tivsue Godwin following a manhunt for a notorious syndicate terrorising Katsina-Ala town.
Godwin alleged that the syndicate on December 24,2020, invaded the residence of the chairman Katsina-Ala Local Government Area,, Alfred Avalumun and gruesomely murdered three policemen on guard and carted away their Ak-47 rifles.
According to him, the suspect confessed to committing the offence, alongside ones Arondofa Chekele and some others at large.
The prosecution prayed the court for adjournment as Investigation was sticking in progress.
The Magistrate,Ajuma Igama thereafter ordered the police to return the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP.). and
adjourned the case to February 25, for further mention.
