
President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded the defection of the Governor of Ebonyi State,Dave Umahi to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Predident in a statement on Wednesday, by his Media Assistant,,Garba Shehu said Umahi’s defection was in accordance with his conscience and principle rather than coercion and external influence.
The President said, with men like Umahi,he” foresees a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy because voters will be more motivated by performance records of parties and their candidates.”
Buhari said a major reason for the governors’ defection which is good governance is key to the APC and enjoined Nigerians to deemphasize Identity politics in order to make a positive impact on the country.
