Federal Court of Appeal in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates capital has sentenced six Nigerians to prison over alleged involvement in funding Boko Haram terrorists.
The convicts reportedly transferred a whopping sum of$782,000,00 to Boko Haram between 2015 and 2016.
Sarajo Abubakar Muhammed and Saleh Yusuf Adamu were handed life imprisonment while Ibrahim Ali Alhassan,AbdulRahman Ado Musa, Bashir Ali Yusuf and Muhammad Ibrahim Isa were sentenced to ten-year imprisonment each.
The convicts who were said to have been investigated and their membership of Boko Haram confirmed were arrested between April 16 and 17,2017.
Adamu and Abubakar were charged for joining Boko Haram knowingly,an offence under the UAE Anti-Terrorism Law No 7 of 2017 punishable by death or life imprisonment, Yusuf, Alhassan,Musa and Isah were charged with assisting Boko Haram knowingly ,a crime under the same law punishable by life imprisonment or at least five years in jail.
A Nigerian government official, Alhaji Ashiru” alleged Boko Haram undercover agent was said to have misappropriated public funds to the sect while another agent,,Sa’adu based in nigeria was also involved in facilitating currency transactions for the sect
