A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to freeze the accounts of 19 persons and a Public Affairs Company linked to the#EndSARS protest.
The CBN had on October,20,2020 made a request to the Court seeking an order to freeze the accounts of the affected#EndSARS protesters.
Justice Ahmed Musa granted the request of the CBN in freezing of the accounts of the following;
Bolatilo Rachael Oduala,Chima David Ibebunjoh,Mary Doose Kpengwa,Saadat Temitope Bibi, Bassey Victor Israel, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele,Ebere Idibie and Akintomide Lanre Yusuf.
Others are Uhuo Ezenwanyi Promise,Mosopefoluwa Odeseye,Adegoke Pamilerin Yusuf,Umoh Grace Ekanem, Babatunde Victor Segun,Mulu Louis Teghenan and Mary Oshifowora.
Winifred Akpevweoghene Jacob,Victor Solomon,Idunu A.Williams and Gatefield Nigeria Limited are also among those whose accounts would be frozen.
The court also ordered the head offices of Access Bank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank of Nigeria, Guarantee Trust Bank, United Bank of Africa and Zenith Bank to freeze forthwith all transactions on the 20 accounts on the list annexed to the CBN’s application as Exhibit A and all other accounts of the defendants/respondents for a period of 180 days pending the outcome of Investigation and inquiry currently being conducted by the CBN.
