Prominent actors supporters and members of frontline political parties in the Ondo governorship election on October 10 ,2020, appear to snub the road to peace and embraced violence even before ballots are cast.
On Saturday, supporters of the ALL Progressives Congress APC and the Peoples Democratic party PDP, clashed and in the process,one person was reported dead.
Early on Sunday, the battle continued on the streets of Akure where party thugs had a filled day shooting sporadically,.At the end of the day, two persons lost their lives.
The blame game seemed not to have an end.TheAPC had accused the PDP of being responsible for the violence that rocked the state on Saturday .
The PDP leaders on Sunday ,stormed Akure, the Ondo State capital with the resolve that it would no longer tolerate such attacks. from the ruling party whom it accused of having the penchant for violence.
The Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council and Governor of Oyo State,Seyi Makinde said
” It started from Yesterday until this morning. So we came here to deliberate with the AIG and the CP to let them know that first, they tried this type of thing somewhere else. They tried it in Kogi days leading to the election,I was there.They had violence. People being intimidated and we came to tell them that yes APC have gotten away with this in other places but we are prepared for them here.”
“Those places were taken by surprise but not anymore.” Makinde warned.
