A housewife,Hauwa Ibrahim, has allegedly killed her children because her husband,one Ibrahim Haruna Aminu, took a second wife.
The victims identified as Yusuf 5 and Zahra’u 3 were reportedly killed on Saturday morning in Diso village in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to the uncle of the deceased children and younger brother to their father, Sadiq Haruna Aminu, Hauwa,his brother’s wife and mother of the deceased children have been living with envy and jealousy ever since his brother married another wife two months ago.
He said the incident happened when his brother was away to his new wife’s place. His eldest wife,Hauwa ,called him in the morning that all was not well in their house only for him to rush home and meet the lifeless bodies of the children soaked in blood while she ran away.
Sadiq said the woman beat the children and used knife to cut them. Her 10- year old niece who was living with them was also not spared as she received knife cut on her hand but was lucky to survive and is the witness to the incident.
“We don’t know her whereabout at the moment because we spoke with the security operatives .We learnt she went to her parent’s house” he said.
The ward head of Diso, Ahmad Bello, described the incident as shocking and condemned the act adding she should have taken the matter to court instead of taking the laws into her hand and killing the innocent children.
