Bilikisu Isa, a resident of Aso Mararaba,in Karu Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, has died of complications from injury she sustained
after she was allegedly tortured by the police.
The 20 year -old lady was arrested on August 31, 2020 alongside her friend,Rukayya Muhammed ,at Calvary Road by Bola in Mararaba.
The deceased was arrested when her ex boyfriend Abdul, mentioned her name while he was in police custody and was being tortured for allegedly stealing N1 4 million in the Car Dealership Center where he was working for a Lebanese Man Jafar in Maitama Abuja..
She was reportedly arrested, tortured by the police for a whole day before calling her parents to take her when it was obvious she was unconscious.
Rukayya, the deceased friend said that Bilikisu was asked to remove her hijab ‘and was repeatedly beaten with wire by an Inspector who slapped and flogged her making her to faint at the police station.
She said she (Rukayya) was spared because the officer had told her that he liked her and had given his phone number to her
According to her, the deceased was no longer in any relationship with the suspect since last year, still the police picked her up and abused her by calling her a prostitute.
The deceased was said to have on getting home from the police station,bled, vomited and later died Her mother,Hadiza Isah said that before the daughter was picked up by the police, she was sick and her appeail to the police to leave her alone on account of her illheath,fell on deaf ears.
The PPRO of Nassarawa Police Command,, Rahman Nansel admitted the arrest and said she was not tortured but released unconditionally.
