The police have arrested and paraded on National Television, 6 persons in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a first year student of the University of Benin,Uwaila Omosuwa
Omosuwa was killed in a church in Benin City, the Edo State capital.in May. Her death sparked condemnation and protests in the nation.
The Police had in the wake of the killing assured that the perpetrators would be fished out to face the consequences of their actions,but that didn’t happen early enough as the incident appeared to be a jig saw puzzle. the arrest of the suspects, however revealed that justice is near.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, told newsmen that “the criminals went into the church building to wreak havoc where she was raped, because the post mortem examination result had actually confirmed “she was raped and gruesomely murdered,” .He said her perpetrators have been arrested
A woman alleged to be the mastermind behind the incident, and reportedly gave N1.000.000 to carry out the job, denied involvement in the act and said since the matter was going to court court she was prepared to go and prove her innocence.
While one of the sudpects confessed to be involved in the act, he said that the deceased was not raped as what was used on her was fire extinguisher ..however, others linked to the crime denied participation
