The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration, NAFDAC,has warned Nigerians to avoid drinking organic apple and black currant juice from Australia.
Director General of NAFDAC, Professor,Moji Adeyeye who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja.onTuesday said that the goods contained excessive patulin content that could cause liver, Spleen and Kidney damage.
Adeyeye said “the toxic amount will affect the immune system and cause nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort and vomiting.”
She gave the name of the deadly product as” Pure Tassie and urged all those responsible for shipping the product to the country to suspend activities immediately.
“We implore mporters,manufacturers, retailers and customers to suspend the manufacturing, shipment,sale and consumption of the affected fruit juice immediately”
