A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of 46 properties linked to the former Chairman of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Funds (NSITF).
Justice Taiwo Taiwo granted the order of forfeiture Wednesday after Counsel to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ekele Iheanacho proved that the properties are linked to the former Chairman of the Trust Fund, Ngozi Juliet Olojeme acquired through unlawful processes
The Properties include houses,and parcels of Land located in Abuja, Bayelsa and Delta States.
Justice Taiwo has also ordered the EFCC to publish the order of forfeiture in a national daily to enable anyone who is interested in the affected property to show cause within 14 days why the assets should not be permanently forfeited to the federal government.
Further hearing of the case has been fixed for July 27.
Olejeme was said to have
acquired the properties with public funds She allegedly diverted while serving in NSITF between 2009 and 2015.
Among the said properties EFCC listed are a house at 2 Kainji Crescent, off Lake Chad crescent, Maitama, Abuja, also known as Plot 738 Cadastral Zone A, Maitama, Abuja, which the EFCC claimed she acquired in 2012 at N1. 3 billion.
