Suspected kidnappers on Friday night attacked a security convoy conveying Chinese expatriates in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, killing eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to BUA Cement Factory
The incident reportedly occurred around 10 p.m near the factory’s entrance in Edo State.
Current matters gathered that one of the expatriates was abducted, while the security team rescued four others before the assailants fled into the surrounding forest.
It was further learned that four people who sustained injuries during the attack are currently receiving treatment
The incident comes hours after a separate abduction along the Benin-Auchi Road, where 16 passengers travelling to Abuja were kidnapped . The victims were dragged into the forest before police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes and local hunters, rescued 16 of the 18 passengers.
