The Mokwa Local Government Council in Niger State says at least sixty bodies have been recovered following a boat accident that occurred on Tuesday night in the local government area.
According to a statement by the Press Secretary to the Council Chairman, Abubakar Dakani , the boat carrying over 300 persons was on travelling from Mundi to Gbajibo for the annual Maulud celebration when it capsized at the Gabjibo river .
Sixty bodies have been recovered while 150 persons were rescued.
The statement said that rescue efforts by a joint team comprising the state emergency management agency and the local authorities to locate the remaining missing persons.
