Thugs hired by some members of the Nigerian Medical Association,Enugu Branch, Yesterday unleashed terror on members of the Association who gathered to elect a Chairman.
Many members of the association were reportedly injured in the incident that took place at the Michael Okpara Square.
Report has it that the thugs numbering over 30, stormed the venue with dangerous weapons while voting was going on and started destroying objects they laid their hands on.
They were said to have upturned the ballot boxes and attacked members of the election commitee making the doctors to run for their lives.
Report further said that the NMA Chairman of the state,Dr Ike Okwesili and some members of the excecutive were not spared by the thugs as they were severely beaten.
