The refusal of a son to quit criminal activities, has forced his father to cut off his hand with a matchete in self defence.
The man identified as Sunday,and his son, Mathew, who resided in Nyangasang town, Calabar, were said to have constant confrontation over his son’s involvement in cult and other criminal acts .
Residents in the area said that the boy had been arrested many times by the police because of his negative behavior which created regular conflicts between father and son.
Timothy Sam,who claimed to be the community youth leader, said that Mathew,on Thursday morning, allegedly attacked his father, who in self defence used a matchete to cut off his hand.
The incident is said to be generating tension in the community,as cult members have threatened to react.
