
Marburg Virus,a highly infectious viral haemorrhagic fever from the family of Ebola virus has claimed the lives of two persons who tested positive for the disease in the Southern Ashanti region of Ghana.
Francis Kasolo, WHO Representative in Ghana said in a statement on Friday that WHO is collaborating with the Ghanaian Health Officials and “preparing for a possible outbreak response”
According to him, preliminary analysis of samples taken from the two patients by the country’s Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research indicated the cases were positive.adding that the samples have been sent to the Institut Pasteaur in Senegal for confirmation.
