As Wike Fights Back

The Progressive Governors Forum ( PGF)has ruled out supporting or endorsing any political coalition or candidate outside the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections, in an apparent reference to the Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition.
Chairman of the Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, announced the position late Monday after the governors meeting in Abuja.
The APC governors say they will not participate in any political arrangement capable of weakening President Tinubu’s re-election and other APC governorship, National Assembly or State Assembly candidates fearing that it may undermine party candidates at any level.
Despite the national campaign structure, the PGF says APC governors will take the lead in mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in their respective states.
But Wike, dismissed the APC Governor’s demand , saying the President appointed him and he is supporting him.
Speaking to Arise TV Primetime on Tuesday evening, Wike said there was no time he promised that he would not field candidates of his party in the 2027 general elections alongside President Bola Tinubu.
“Soludo is supporting Mr President does it mean he would not present candidates in other elections?” He also cited Governor Adeleke of Osun state( Accord party)who pledged support for President Tinubu but who is presenting candidates of his own party.
He described the progressive governors as weak saying their influence should come from their states not anywhere else.
He said a governor that is not influencial in his state to secure victory for Mr President should not be ranting.
According to him, the president gave him the position and only the president would decide his fate not the progressive governors.
