The General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja, has passed away.
The development according to the Vanguard was disclosed in a letter from the late General Secretary’s family to members of the NLC National Executive Council, NEC.
The letter was made public by NLC President, Joe Ajaero,
Ugboaja was the fifth General Secretary of the NLC.
The deceased was a veteran trade unionist and lawyer who was appointed NLC General Secretary in August 2019.
Born on May 15, 1966, Ugboaja obtained a law degree from the University of Calabar in 1987 and was said to be the first Nigerian lawyer to work full-time for a trade union.
