The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened nine nominees as commissioners and members of the state executive council. Out of the number, five scaled the screening and were confirmed. while the House rejected four citing poor performance during screening.
Those confirmed are Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor,Prof. Peters Nwagor ,Amarigha Hart and Lekue Kenneth
Those rejected include Prof.Datonye Alasia, Tamuno Williams ,Otonye TKO Amachree and Mrs Charity Deemua
Speaking during the screening, the lawmakers representing the constituencies cited improper documentation and discrepancies for some of the nominees not cleared while in the case of Amachree, they pointed out controversies and numerous petitions received as reason for his disqualification.
After the house confirmed the five nominees,Speaker Martins Amaewhule said he would communicate the outcome to the State Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara for swearing in of the successful nominees.
