The Rivers State House of Assembly has invited all nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council for screening and confirmation.
The invitation contained In a statement signed by the Clerk of the House, Emeka Amadi, requested all the nominees to appear at the Rivers State House of Assembly Chamber, Assembly Quarters, Port Harcourt, on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
The Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, had Friday said the delay in screening the nominees was due to the fact that only seven of them had submitted their CVs and credentials for the process.
The screening followed the submission of a list of nine nominees to the House of Assembly by Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday last week, for screening and confirmation.
The State Assembly had initiated three impeachment processes against the governor from 2023 to 2026 amid a protracted crisis involving the governor and his predecessor
However, the House suspended the process following president’s Bola Tinubu’s intervention on February 9,2026.
