The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council following the mediation of President Bola Tinubu in the rift between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
The governor has therefore directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or the most Senior officers in their Ministries with immediate effect.
Governor Fubara gave the directive on Thursday in a statement issued by his new Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi
Fubara and Wike had met with the president behind closed doors on Sunday where he reportedly asked the two men to cease hostilities and allow governance to take priority over others.
During a recent event in Abuja,Wike , the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory was quoted as saying that the president intervened and therefore, he would not hesitate to call the Assembly to stop the impeachment of the governor.
On his part, Fubara ,who undertook a tour of the ongoing Port Harcourt Ring Road Project earlier this week, credited the project to Wike, whom he called his Oga,in a move that signals the end of the over two years political crisis in the state.
A new list of commissioners is said to be underway with names of some persons who resigned in the wake of the political crisis allegedly featuring prominently.
