“First, we give God all the glory. We have made history. Books will be written about this administration, what we went through and how we survived. Those who put their trust in God can never be put to shame,” he said.

Governor Fubara noted that the presence of distinguished guests at the banquet was a clear message of solidarity with his administration and alignment with President Bola Tinubu.

“ The distinguished leaders who sat with us today signal their support not only for this administration but also for President Bola Tinubu”

Addressing critics with implied the metaphor ,Governor Fubara said exuding confidence,
“The only reason a dog barks is when it does not understand. We are not barking because we understand. Governance will continue in its full force. What we have set out to do for our state, we will continue to do.”

Governor Fubara called for sustained public support and urged citizens to remain committed to truth and unity.

“Let us stand on the side of truth wherever we find ourselves.”

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Benibo Anabraba, described the banquet as a moment of thanksgiving, unity, and reflection.

He noted that despite political tensions and a period of emergency governance, the state has remained stable by divine grace, stressing the need for collective effort, peace, and unity for sustainable development.

“Development can only be achieved by nurturing a collective spirit, unity of purpose, and peace for the good of Rivers State.”

Dr. Anabraba concluded by wishing the state a blessed 2026 and announced that the banquet marked the beginning of an active legislative year, with Governor Fubara expected to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly later in the month.

Proposing the toast to Rivers State, Hon. Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante, Member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency, drew from biblical and historical metaphors to describe the administration’s journey as one of restoration after rejection.

He urged unity among leaders, warning that internal divisions weaken nations.

“Our path has been charted not by a strong man, but by the leader God Himself has chosen. Our responsibility now is to bond. This year will witness the restoration of the glory of Rivers State.”

On his part, former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, who proposed a toast to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, acknowledged the challenges posed by ongoing economic reforms but expressed optimism that current policies would deliver long-term national transformation.

He stressed the importance of Rivers State’s alignment with the Federal Government, noting that the state has historically thrived under such synergy.

“This is a season of reforms, which we all pray will lead to the greatness of this country. In the golden days of Rivers State, our leaders were aligned with the national party.”

Dr. Danagogo described Governor Fubara as a peacemaker and unifier and expressed confidence that cooperation between the state and the centre would yield sustained progress.

The event brought together top government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, and key stakeholders, who enjoyed an atmosphere of renewed commitment to the progress of Rivers State, complemented by comedy , musical performances and rich cultural displays showcasing the state’s heritage.
