The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the suspension of ongoing rerun elections in some constituencies in Enugu, Kano, and Akwa Ibom States.
The affected areas include Enugu South 1 State Constituency in Enugu State, Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, and Kunchi/Tsanyawa State Constituency in Kano State.
A statement issued by INEC ‘s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee,Sam Olumekun cited disruptions, irregularities, and the abduction of election officials as responsible for the suspension.
Earlier,on Saturday, there were reports of violence against electoral officers who allegedly engaged in misconduct while hoodlums also had a field day carting away ballot boxes in some polling units.
