
Nigerian Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP walked out of Wednesday plenary and threatened to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the spate of insecurity in the country.
The Senators led by the Minority Leader,Sen. Philip Aduda who represents the Federal Capital Territory FCT addressed the press at the National Assembly on Wednesday gave a six weeks ultimatum to address the issue saying,they would be left with no choice but to invoke Section 140 of the 1999 constitution on the president if he failed to do so.
Aduda said that the Senators held several meetings on the way to nip the situation in the bud and made recommendations to the government but regretted that nothing has been done to check the situation.
The development comes just three days after gunmen suspected to be terrorists ambushed Presidential guards on patrol along the Bwari – Kubwa road and killed no fewer than eight soldiers.
The terrorists had also a few days ago attacked a village in Kwali forcing the closure of schools in the Federal Capital Territory.
