As Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle receives his All Progressives Congress APC membership card, his predecessor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari has restated that he remains the leader of the party in the state.
Yari said the reception of membership card by the governor notwithstanding, there has never been any doubt that he (Yari) is the leader of APC in the state.
” Whether he likes it or not,I still remain the authentic APC leader in the State ,so he should stop parading and deceiving himself as the party’s leader in the state
The former governor said it was unthinkable that Matawalle would assume leadership of the party he formed and nurtured in the state adding that doing so would be over his death.
” I will never stay alive and see Matawalle being the leader of the party I formed and nurtured in the state.”
Since the last general elections in the state where the APC in Zamfara was embroiled in legal tussle leading to its disqualification by the courts, Zamfara had known no peace.
The incumbent and Former Governors had been on the war path with both pointing fingers at the other of being responsible for the outbreak of banditry in the state.
Matawalle was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Governors Forum until recently, when he defected to the APC
The governor said he joined the ruling party because of his desire for peace to return to the state.
