The Senate on Tuesday failed to confirm Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie as Federal Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
The Senate in its resolution, following submission of report on screening by its INEC Committee led by Senator Kabiru Gaya ( APC Kano), adhered to the Federal Character Principle Act which prevents the dominance of people from few states to dominate others in the political governance of the country.
Onochie and the Chairman,Legal Services,INEC May Agbamuche are from Delta State.
Onochie had told the Senate Committee on INEC during her screening last week that Agbamuche was nominated by Cross Rivers State and not Delta having been married to someone from that state.
