The Kebbi Police Command has confirmed the abduction of unspecified number of students from the Federal Government Girls College, FGGC Birnin Yauri .
The Command’s spokesman,Nafiu Abubakar said the Command received the report at about 12 o’ clock on Thursday and immediately deployed its men in hot pursuit of the criminals.
According to him, some teachers are also being held by the terrorists adding that the operatives are currently combing forests in an effort to ensure the rescue of the abductees.
Earlier reports claimed that at least 30 students and three teachers might have been abducted, however, sources in the neighborhood of the school fear the number might be in hundreds in view of the boarding population of the school.
The Federal Government Girls College,Birni Yauri and other unity schools are predominantly reserves for students of poor homes.
