Breaking: Chad President Idris Derby shot dead, son Mahamat Itno, to head Military Council 

President Idris Derby of Chad is dead.

An Army Spokesman said Derby died following gun shot wounds he sustained at the battle ground where he had gone to boost the morale of Chadian soldiers against rebels.

However, sources said the 68 – year- old President might have been killed in an orchestrated coup d’etat.

News of his death came 24 hours after he was announced winner of the April 11 presidential election making him to return as president for the sixth term.

Derby’s son, Mahamat Itno Derby is to head the Military council.reports say.
