United States President, Donald Trump has claimed victory in the United States Presidential election even as votes suggest a very tight race and more votes are being counted in Key states.
Trump who announced this in address on Wednesday morning , described the electoral process as fraudulent and questioned why states that he had a comfortable lead over his challenger Biden were yet to be determined in his favour.
He announced that he is heading to the Supreme Court to ask the states where more votes are being counted to stop counting.a move analysts say was unpresidential and aimed to not only disenfranchise citizens in those states but a calculated attempt by the president to delegitimise the electoral process.
From the electoral votes so far raked in, Biden is leading with 220 votes against Trump’s 213
Millions of votes are still being expected to be counted in major battle ground states of Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan , Wisconsin, North Carolina and only when that is done that a winner will emerge.
Also,any of the candidates who got 270 electoral votes as required by law will be declared winner of the election.
