Thirty one year -old Nigerian elected to US Congress 

,Nigerian,Oye Owolewa from Kwara State has been elected to the United States House of Representatives.

Owolewa, PHD holder from North Eastern University,Boston becomes first American Nigerian to be elected on the platform of the Democratic Party as a”Shadow’ House of Representatives member representing District of Columbia.

While thanking everyone who contributed to his election on his Facebook page,the new congressman said” I stand before you as America’s first Nigerian American congressman .In this role,I’m going to fight for DC statehood and bring our values to the lawmaking process”
