A suspected notorious cultist on the wanted list of the Ogun State Police Command ,Dare Ojugbele, , has been arrested.
Ojugbele, alias”Sturborn’ from Itawaya area of Ilaro,Ogun State was said to be on the wanted list of the Command for some time.
According to the Police Spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect ,was arrested on August 20,2020, at about 12 noon when the Divisional Police Officer who was on routine patrol with his men along Idogo road sighted him on top of a motorcycle and quickly intercepted and arrested him.
The Police operatives conducted a search on him and recovered one locally made pistol,one live cartridge,one 7.65mm live ammunition and assorted dangerous charms.
The suspect was said to have confessed to being a member of the dreaded Eiye cult group and revealed that they were responsible for series of cult clashes within Ilaro and its envrons.
In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The police commissioner who warned that cult activities would not be allowed to fester in the state under his watch, however said amnesty would be given to any cult member still willing to come forward to denounce his membership.
