The People’s Democratic party,PDP has rejected the directive by Abubakar Malami, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, requesting the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to provide Security for,17 purported lawmakers of Edo State describing it as thoughtless unconstitutionality which is null and void.
” Our Party says nothing in section 19,91,101 and 104 of the 1999 constitution as ammended cited by the Attorney General Malami, empowers him to go to the streets of any part of our nation to assemble some clowns and declare them members elect of any House of Assembly, without electoral mandate.”
“Perhaps the Attorney General should be made aware that the said individuals have been absent for 108 days during which they abandoned their mandate and for which their seats were declared vacant in line with the rules of the Legislature and according to the laws of the legislature.”
The Party therefore asked the IGP to disregard the partisan directive by the Attorney General as well asked him to ensure hat the police is not in tandem with his partisan directive.
