Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has reacted to the statement credited to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje where the later said that the Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki “will be humiliated and Nyesom Wike isolated’ .
Wike replied to Ganduje by saying that Ganduje was not his match as they do not operate at the same level.
In a statement on Tuesday, Wike said that the Kano governor’s s reference to his isolation is nothing but a subtle plot to use security agencies to rig the election in favour of the ruling party.
He said’ “Nobody can intimidate us in this election.Yesterday I was told and today I read on the pages of newspapers that Governor Ganduje said that he was going to isolate me until the election is over, if Nigeria were to be a country, who is supposed to be isolated?”
” A man who pocketted dollars in a barbariga from contractors is not isolated and you say that I should be isolated? In this country, where are we heading to?”
“Let me tell you why they made Ganduje the Chairman of the campaign council,it is because of the dollars they saw,but without dollars, Ganduje could not have been made the Chairman of the campaign council.What he doesn’t understand is that we are from the Niger Delta,we shall ‘chop’ his dollars and we will ‘chop’ him into a coma.So Ganduje,your dollars will not work in Edo State, We have integrity in our party.”
Ganduje had after his inauguration as Chairman of the Apc Campaign Council on Edo Governorship election said that the opposition party was only interested in the Edo State treasury which was why they are giving support to governor Obaseki.
With the days drawing closer and daggers been drawn by the major political parties,it is expected that the fears expressed by INEC and the Edo people about possible violence would not come to pass.
