
Operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS), of the Nigeria Police Force NPF has arrested five suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a mobile phone and accessories dealer in Ogun State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer,CSP Ani Iniedu on Saturday.
The statement said the arrest followed a petition addressed to the Inspector-General of Police by Sanniphil Company over a violent robbery incident involving its consignment of mobile phones and accessories. Acting on the petition, STS operatives commenced a discreet investigation on 10th August 2026, which led to the arrest of the suspects in Ogun State.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on 5th August 2026, at about 1900hrs, the suspects attacked a company vehicle conveying phones and accessories valued at about One Hundred Million Naira (₦100,000,000.00) from Lagos to Onitsha and carted away the items.
The suspects are: Okori Joyus, ‘M’, 23 years; Yetunde Lasisi, ‘M’ 53 years; Usen Samuel, ‘M’, 20 years; Usen Wisdom, ‘M’, 25 years; and Quadri Oluwadare, ‘M’, 56 years. A total of 81 brand-new smart mobile phones and 196 chargers were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen property.
