As Interstate movement begins on Wednesday, July 1, Road Transport Workers planto increase transport fares to meet up with losses that they might face by the government order on
reopening

The Federal government had on Monday approved reduction of vehicles seat capacities to 50 percent

Acting General Secretary of the NURTW, Kabiru Yau said that the new measures by the government could force drivers to hike transport fares if they were not supported by government .

He said government should help the union in subsidising the cost of the passengers that they will not be carrying as the reduced number of passengers would bally affect their income.

According to him, the spacing in the vehicles in compliance with theh government directive will require drivers to carry only 9 passengers instead of 10 in an 18 seater bus
