Dr. Peter Stafford developed symptoms and tested positive while working at Nyankunde Hospital.

The U.S. State Department and the CDC are evacuating the infected American, along with six other high-risk contacts, to Germany for specialized treatment and monitoring.Outbreak Details: This outbreak has been driven by the Bundibugyo variant. Health agencies note that the vaccines and specific monoclonal antibody therapies used for the more common Zaire strain are ineffective against the Bundibugyo variant, making containment and treatment highly challenging.
Meanwhile ,the U.S. has invoked Title 42 travel restrictions, blocking entry for non-U.S. citizens who have been in the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan in the past 21 days.
Despite the outbreak and the American cases, the CDC stated that the immediate risk to the general American public remains low, as Ebola only spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. For further CDC remains low.
