Former Virginia Lt.Gov, Justin Fairfax shot and killed his wife,Cerina Fairfax, inside their home in Annandale, Virginia and then killed himself. Police Said Thursday.
The incident stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute surrounding what appears to be a complicated divorce .
Fairfax Police Chief, Kevin Davis said
According to him,the couple’s two teenage children were inside the home when the incident occurred noting their son had placed the 911 call.
The police responded to the home shortly after midnight Thursday, where they found a man and woman dead inside.
The Police further said Justin Fairfax in January put a call to the police alleging assault by his wife but cameras set up in the house by Detectives did not corroborate that.
The children are being cared for by their grandparents with support from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Victim services division,David said.
Fairfax,a Democrat was Lt Governor under Governor Ralph Notham from 2018-2022. He also ran for the office of governor in 2021. He returned to practice law after his tenure as Lt. Gov. His wife was a Dentist,report said.
His tenure was said have been marred by sexual assault allegations.
Virginia State court records show that Fairfax was twice sued recently in cases tied to thousands of dollars in unpaid debts
