An attempt by inmates at the Ikoyi Correctional Service Centre in Lagos is being resisted as men of the Nigerian Police Force and the Military have been deployed to assist guards at the center.
Although reports of the incident are sketchy at the moment, eyewitness said that exchange of gunfire was heard with thick smoke coming out of the Correctional Center.
A security personnel who chatted with current matters said reasons for jailbreak included Hunger, Insecurity, and Unfriendly environment.
According to him, jailbreaks most often have internal collaboration as well external factors like the incident in Benin where hoodlums invaded the correctional and operated successfully without resistance for hours.
