Governor Siminilayi Fubara has dissolved all pro- Sim movements in the state following reconciliation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The governor made the announcement during a stakeholder’s meeting in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
The development comes after peace was brokered between the two men by President Bola Tinubu during the week.
As a follow up with the peace deal,Fubara reportedly accompanied Wike to a relation’s burial programme on Saturday.
President Tinubu on March 18, 2025,imposed a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspended the governor and the State House of Assembly for six months citing a lingering political crisis between Wike and Fubara.that required the protection of national assets.
This prompted pro – Fubara groups in the state to take to the streets to demand his reinstatement. but the president did nothing of that sort.
Instead, he presented a N1.48 trillion naira to the National Assembly highlighting capital and recurrent expenditures, and equally forwarded a list of appointees to oversee several parastatals in the state . They included the Rivers State Electoral Commission RISEC with a non indigene, a Cross River State man as the Chairman.
But with the seeming reconciliation between the governor and his predecessor, there is hope for the return of democracy although it is not clear whether the president will make haste to write to the National Assembly for the reinstatement of Fubara and others on or before the expiration of the six months suspension as this remains a mystery shrouded in uncertainty.
