The House of Representatives says recycled bribery allegations attributed to an official of Binance Ltd are directed at certain individual members of the House and not the institution of parliament.
In a statement, the House Spokesman Akin Rotimi urges the public to note that one of the affected members has already instituted legal action to clear his name, while the others have been encouraged to do the same in pursuit of justice and the protection of their reputations.
Rotimi says the lawmakers named have assured the House Leadership that they never had any such dealings as reported.
The House Spokesman further notes that the matter is being handled by the Nigerian and United States governments, pointing out that the Federal Government’s rejection of financial settlement offers from Binance already raises serious questions about the credibility and intent of the allegations being peddled.
The House reiterates commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, saying it will refrain from further comment in line with established parliamentary, judicial, and diplomatic principles, since the matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction and remains the subject of ongoing diplomatic engagements
