The remains of Dame Mary Oduah Amaechi, mother of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC were on Saturday,5th September,2026 interred at her home town,Ubima in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
She was aged 96years.
Dame Amaechi was a philanthropist and devout Christian .
Her interment on Saturday was preceded by a funeral service at St Theresa Catholic Church Ubima, Ubima parish while a vigil mass in her honour took place on Friday evening at the Catholic Cathedral,Aba Road Port Harcourt
The programme had a lot of dignitaries in attendance. They included a former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the ADC, Atiku Abubakar and his wife, Former Vice president,Yemi Osibanjo SAN,the Presidential candidate of the NDC, Mr Peter Obi and his Vice Presidential Candidate,Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso and former governor of Cross River State,Mr Donald Duke.
Rotimi Amaechii one of the sons of the deceased was governor of Rivers State 2007-2015 , He was appointed Minister of Transport by President Muhammadu Buhari 2015 and resigned from office in 2022 to contest for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Primary.
