The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has approved the immediate redeployment of 10 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to various strategic commands, departments and formations across the country.
The directive was communicated through a police wireless signal issued by the Force headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The signal, titled “Posting Senior Officers” and marked “Most Immediate,” was circulated to major police departments, zonal commands, state commands, specialised units and training institutions for immediate implementation.
Although an initial reference to the directive mentioned nine AIGs, the official document listed 10 senior police officers affected by the latest postings.
The redeployment saw AIG Polycarp Emeka Nwonyi appointed to Zone 9 Command, Umuahia, while AIG Obono Nnaghe Itam, moved to serve as Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos.
AIG Bassey Samuel Ewa was posted to Zone 15 Command, Maiduguri, while AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor was assigned to Zone 3 Command, Yola.
The reshuffle also saw AIG Monday Agbonika deployed to Zone 5 Command, Benin, while AIG Daniel Edobor Iyamah was moved to the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Other affected senior officers include AIG Isah Danladi Nda, who was posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Kaduna, and AIG Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima, who was redeployed to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
AIG Bello Rashid Afegbua was assigned to Zone 6 Command, Calabar, while AIG Betty Enekpen Otimenyin was posted to Zone 8 Command, Lokoja.
The police authorities stated that all the new postings take immediate effect, directing relevant departments responsible for personnel records, establishment matters and digital documentation to update their systems accordingly.
The directive was circulated to key departments including the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Operations, and Department of Information and Communication Technology.
It was also transmitted to the 17 police Zonal commands, Commissioners of Police across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, tactical formations, police colleges, training institutions and other police formations nationwide.
