Member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yaya Bauchi Tongo has passed away.
House spokesman, Akin Rotimi, in a statement said the lawmaker from Gombe State died in Abuja on Friday after an illness.
Late Tongo was serving his first term in the Green Chamber and was Chairman of the Nigeria–United Arab Emirates Parliamentary Friendship Group in the House of Representatives.
Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen expresses deep sorrow over the loss, describing Tongo as a dedicated legislator and grassroots politician with enormous contributions to governance and constituency development.
The House extends condolences to the family of the late lawmaker, his constituents, as well as the Government and people of Gombe State.
