President Donald Trump has postponed threats to enforce military action against Iranian Energy sites for five days following what he called fruitful discussion with Iran
Taking to his Truth Social platform on Monday morning,Trump said the US and Iran have had over the last two days very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East “
He added” Based on the tenor and tone ‘ of the talks, which will continue throughout the week,I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings.
Trump had on March 21 issued a 48 hour deadline to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz – a critical energy waterway or face obliteration of its energy facilities.
Tehran had responded tough with retaliatory threats of deploying mines to block the Strait indefinitely while also destroying key energy infrastructures in the gulf region if any of its islands or energy facilities are destroyed.
The US/ Israel war on Iran launched on February 28 resulted in the decapitation of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayotallah Ali Khamenei, his wife, children and some prominent members of the regime. It also saw the choice of Mojtaba Khamenei as successor to his father.
The war has entered the fourth week with death toll climbing in thousands and signs of massive destruction in cities across the region while oil prices globally continue to rise.
