Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 20 for judgment in the terrorism trial of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The Judge set the date on Friday following Kanu’s decision not to open his defence within the six days allocated to him by the court.
Justice Omotosho ruled that the IPOB leader had been given sufficient time to present his case but chose not to utilise the opportunity.
He stated that by waiving his right to defend himself, Kanu could not later claim to have been denied a fair hearing.
The judge said Kanu, having failed to utilise the opportunity granted him to conduct his defence, cannot claim to have been denied the constitutionally guaranteed rights to fair hearing.
