The Federal Government has issued alert of heavy rainfall and potential flooding across 15 states and 69 communities from September 24 to 28, 2025

The Ministry of Environment’s National Flood Early Warning Centre made this known in a statement.

According to the advisory lists, Adamawa, Anambra, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Edo, Imo, Kano, Katsina, Ondo, Oyo, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, and Zamfara are risk states.

Communities such as Yola, Yenagoa, Warri, Benin City, Oguta, Kano, Jibia, Akure, Oyo, Ahoada, Shagari, Serti, and Gusau are particularly vulnerable.

The Ministry therefore advised stakeholders
to take preventive measures to protect lives and property.

It emphasized that the alert is part of its ongoing early-warning system to reduce risks during the peak rainy season.

The statement urged residents, local governments, and emergency response teams to remain vigilant and implement precautionary measures.
