A plane belonging to Air India flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick has crashed shortly after take off with a number of British National on board.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (reg: VT-ANB) lost signal at 08:08:51 UTC, just seconds after takeoff.
According to the State Police Control Room, the aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 12 crew. Emergency teams are rushing to the crash site near IGB Ground in Ahmedabad.
The Boeing can be seen on top of a building with plumes of Black smoke across the area.
No confirmation on any casualties has been made at this time.
Passengers confirmed sighting far are from the following countries; 169 Indian Nationals, 53 British Nationals, 7 Portuguese Nationals and 1 Canadian National.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed the incident.
