President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Kevin Okonna as the Interim Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria,MAN.
A statement released by MAN Head of Public Affairs,Domo Umoekpe, in Uyo on Monday said the appointment is with immediate effect.
The appointment follows the resignation of the former rectory, Commodore Duja Effedua(rtd)
The statement disclosed that the appointment was communicated through a letter from the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy , Gboyega Oyetola
Okonna “holds impressive educational and professional credentials from recognized national and international institutions including , World Maritime University, Malmo ,Sweden .
” Having risen through the ranks ,he has served the Academy in various capacities.
” These include being pioneer Head of the Maritime Safety Department , pioneer Director of the defunct MAN Consultancy Services and pioneer Director of the Strategy Research and Development Directorate.
“Also,as a distinguished member of the Nautical Institute(NI),UK, and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport ( CILT). Umoekpe’s statement said.
