The Nigerian Army says its troops from 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in conjunction with Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have dealt a significant blow to bandits operating in Taraba and Benue States. The operation, codenamed “Operation Golden Peace,” aims to restore peace and security in the region.

According to a post on Sunday, the Army said “On December 7, 2024, the troops launched a well-coordinated clearance operation in the Akahagu and China villages of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State. The operation extended to Ikayor village, where troops engaged bandits linked to the notorious criminal Akiki Utiv, also known as “Full Fire.”

“The bandits were forced to flee after troops applied overwhelming firepower. A red Toyota Corolla vehicle, a motorcycle, and various items, including a military camouflage trouser and a Beretta pistol, were recovered.

“Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and resilience. He assured residents of Taraba and Benue States that the military remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region.
