Bandits have reportedly killed seven farmers, including a vigilante, in Bangi, Mariga LGA of Niger State.
Current matters gathered that the bandits,armed to the teeth also destroyed several bags of maize.
The victims were said to have gone to their farm to bring their harvested maize home when the bandits ambushed and opened fire on them. After killing them, the bandits also set fire to the truck conveying the farmers and their goods.
Niger State is considered a hotbed for organized crime- banditry and insurgency in the North – Central region of Nigeria.
The bandits rob travellers, raid homes and even impose taxes on residents while destroying farmlands and killing are also the tradition of the criminals.
Niger is among states in Northern Nigeria that daily suffer the menace of bandits and insurgents.
Other states include Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Borno
